Spotlight on … Electric Scissor lifts

Scissor Lifts have been helping people work at height since the first use of hydraulic lifting technology to help fix street lighting in Sweden back in the 1920’s.

Fast forward to today and the modern scissor lift is used extensively across a wide range of industries – construction, maintenance, tv and media etc., replacing the use of ladders and steps at low level to high reach applications.

Electric, or battery, power has enabled scissor lifts to be charged prior to operation with low noise and low emission levels. This traditionally has made them ideal for indoor tasks.

However, as battery technology has improved, larger, more powerful scissors have adopted electric power and many are seen outside tasks or on the construction site.

We’ve taken a look at some of the World’s leading manufacturers of electric scissor lifts and ask to identify some of the key features that have made them so useful.
