Parking

If there is no parking onsite, a safe designated area must be provided for the instructor to unload, and a designated person assigned to take the instructor’s belongings to the training room. Details of the nearest parking must be provided and must be in close proximity to the site.

Training Room

The training room should be 15m² or 2.5m² per person, whichever is larger.

Requirements:

• 240 volt power supply.
• Table for the instructor to set up a projector, laptop and screen, or a wall suitable for projection.
• Adequate ventilation and heating.
• Adequate seating and desk space for each candidate.
• Pens and paper.
• Toilet facilities.
• Refreshments for candidates and the instructor.

You will need to supply suitable and sufficient equipment or machines with a current LOLER certificate for the MEWP.

Checks required:

• Has the MEWP been checked by a competent person to ensure it is physically sound and operates correctly?
• Has the MEWP been checked to ensure the platform is free of debris?
• Are control panels legible?
• Is the MEWP fully charged or fuelled, and are keys available?
• Is the manufacturer’s instruction manual present?
• Are there suitable harness anchor points on the MEWP?

Practical Training Area

Requirements:

• Adequate for training on most MEWPs.
• Minimum radius of 75% of the maximum operating envelope of the equipment.
• Suitable for Operator Practical Test Routes, as set out in the IPAF MEWP Training Manual, Section 4.
• Must be cordoned off from pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
• Suitable workface target at a minimum of 75% of the MEWP’s maximum platform height.
• The area must be free of debris and overhead hazards.
• The area must be available for the whole training period without interruption.
• The area must be quiet enough for the instructor to be heard.

Trainee Requirements

Trainees must provide:

• Home address.
• Email address.
• Date of birth.
• Any previous PAL card.

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment must be carried out, especially regarding ground conditions for the practical training area, considering:

• Maximum working mass.
• Maximum point pressure.
• Distributed load, as applicable.

The nearest first aid unit must be identified.

Declaration & Agreement

We confirm that all required facilities and/or equipment are available and that all of the details on this contract are correct.

If training is cancelled because requirements are not met, including inability to work at height, literacy issues, medical conditions or missing PPE, a cancellation fee may apply up to the full cost of the course.
